Stony Hill Cemetery

Stony Hill Cemetery is located on Walnut Hill Road in Bethel, Connecticut. It is a small burial ground established in 1793. Most of the stones date from the mid-1800s. The cemetery is in deplorable condition. Numerous stones are broken and/or off their pedestals, and the majority are illegible. Several surnames seem to dominate; in particular: Benedict, Dibble, Smith, Vail, and Weed. Surprisingly, despite the cemetery's deteriorating condition, there are a couple of "modern" burials from the 1980s.

Estimated number of interments, as of January 2024: at least 152.

Died Oct. 20, 1862.

The remainder of the inscription is illegible.

Libbie was the daughter of Cornelius & Nancy Jane Dibble.

The stones of Samuel Lorenzo & Hattie T. Dibble.

Lorenzo died 23 May 1907, age 64.

Hattie died 26 April 1878, age unknown.
